Karachi: Police say SHO murder could be 'inside job'
KARACHI: Speculating that it could be an inside job, the investigators looking into the murder of SHO Preedy Police Station, who was earlier reported to have been targeted by unknown assailants, are likely close to giving the killer(s) an identity, Geo News reported.

According to sources, the forensic experts, who examined the murder scene, are unanimous that Agha Asad was shot from inside the car.

They said there were no bullet holes on the exterior of the vehicle that could compel them to believe that the bullets, which killed Asad, were fired from outside the car from a distance.

“Asad was shot in the side multiple times, but the fatal bullet was a head shot fired from a nearly pointblank range. All these findings point towards a person who was sitting inside the car next to Asad”, said an investigator.

The investigators say all the forensic evidence leads to Asad’s gunman, adding, however it would be too early to mark him as the prime suspect.

“It may have been an accidental shooting too, we do want to look it that way, only further investigation would help us crack the murder case”, said they.

They added that the spent shell casings found outside the car were from the bullets fired by the gunman.

Earlier it was reported that armed men of unknown identity had ambushed SHO Preedy Police Station, Agha Asad, in downtown Karachi, who succumbed to his wounds on the way to hospital.

According to early reports, unknown gunmen opened fire on his car as he reached the spot near Murshid Bazaar where the attackers were lying in wait to kill him.

Asad was shifted to a Civil Hospital but his injuries proved fatal.

Police have opened investigation into the murder.
