ISLAMABAD: Five packets containing explosive material were found outside the farm house of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Monday, Geo News reported.

According to the police, explosives were recovered from the vicinity of Musharraf’s Chak Shehzad farm house today morning. Each packet contained around 400-500g of explosive material while one pack had a detonator as well.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) reached the site immediately and seized the packets.

"We have found five packets of explosive material, each weighing half a kilo, with two detonators," police chief for Bani Gala, Abdul Rauf Kayani told.

He said the material was found on the central reservation of Park Road, the main road leading to central Islamabad from the leafy suburb where Musharraf lives.

"It is not clear who put the packets here but we have impounded them and begun an investigation," Rauf said.

Musharraf said Sunday he had not yet decided whether to attend Wednesday´s hearing, at which the charges against him are to be read out.

On Sunday he denounced the case as a "vendetta" against him, and said he had the backing of the country´s powerful army.

It may be recalled that high-powered explosive material and detonators were found near the farmhouse of Pervez Musharraf last week.

However, critics had termed the incident a planned act in order to provide Musharraf an excuse to not appear in the special court for the hearing of the high treason case against him.
