ISLAMABAD: The top civil-military leadership of Pakistan on Monday decided to share evidence of recent deadly attack on PAF Badaber airbase in Peshawar, that killed at least 42 people including 13 terrorists last week, with Afghanistan.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here today that discussed issues including sharing of evidences with Afghanistan.
The meeting, held at the PM House, also reviewed border management strategy with Afghanistan and implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, DG ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, DG Military Operations Major General Aamer Riaz, DG Military Intelligence Major General Nadeem Zaki Manj and senior officers attended the meeting.
The meeting, after reviewing the initial report, decided to raise the Badaber militant attack issue at foreign ministry and military leadership levels with Afghanistan directly.
A high-level delegation is likely to visit the western neighbour soon to exchange details regarding alleged telephonic conversation of the attack planners, intelligence information and the attackers’ identities.
The prime minister also held a one-on-one meeting with the army chief before the high-level summit.
Afghan President condemns Badaber attack
Meanwhile, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani telephoned Prime Minister Sharif and condemned the attack on PAF camp Badaber and loss of lives.
The Afghan president extended his heartfelt condolences on the loss of lives of civil and military personal in the deadly attack.
President Ghani reiterated Afghanistan’s resolve that it will never allow its land to be used against Pakistan by anyone, a statement from the PM Office said.
