Sindh govt sent Shahrukh’s pardon summary to Presidency
KARACHI: A summary seeking to pardon Shahrukh Jatoi’s death sentence for the murder of Shahzeb Khan was sent from the Sindh government to the Presidency.

According to reports, the summary was sent to Governor Sindh on July 19 and to the Presidency on August 6. The Chief Secretary had bypassed the Interior Ministry when the summary was sent, however, the Presidency later moved the summary to the Interior Ministry.

The Sindh government tried to pressurise the Interior Ministry to approve the summary as it wanted Shahrukh’s death sentence pardoned during the tenure of President Asif Ali Zardari.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar rejected the summary and held onto it until the end of President Zardari’s tenure. The summary also contained affidavits of Shahzeb Khan’s family.

On Monday, it was revealed that the family of Shahzeb Khan had pardoned their son’s killers. The ATC had awarded death sentences to Shahrukh Jatoi and Siraj Talpur, while two others were handed down life sentence.
