Rangers' extension issue to be resolved soon: Khosa

DUBAI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General and former Governor Punjab Latif Khosa on Sunday said that the issue of Rangers’ extension in Sindh would soon be resolved.

Speaking to reporters in Dubai, he said that chief minister can constitutionally summon Rangers in aid of police in the province.

“Indeed, Rangers have done a fine job. However, it is wrong to say that police have not played any role.”

Khosa said that issue of extension of Rangers powers would soon be resolved “in the interest of the people”.

Replying to recent statements of Interior Minister, he said that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan should stop issuing threats.

“You cannot interfere in provincial matters like this, Rangers operation should be carried out nationwide if it is that important”, said former Governor Punjab.

He alleged that the pro-coup banners in Islamabad were put up on the orders of Nisar.

“Chaudhary Nisar wanted to create differences between the Prime Minister and army so that he could become the PM”, Khosa alleged.

He said that all was not well in Punjab and the province has become a haven for crime.

Khosa alleged that Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections were not conducted in free and fair manner.

He said that the Indian forces were oppressing innocent people in occupied Kashmir.

“Kashmir is our jugular vein, every single Pakistani child is standing with Kashmiris”, he said.

He further said that Pakistan army is the best military in the world and General Raheel Sharif is the best commander.
