ATC orders police to arrest Imran Khan, Qadri in PTV attack case

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has upheld its non-bailable warrants and directed police to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri, along with 70 others in the PTV headquarters attack case.
ATC judge Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi ordered police to arrest the suspects and present them before the court on November 17. Meanwhile six suspects who appeared before the court were granted exemption from appearing personally in the case.
The warrants were issued in two separate FIRs registered against the attack on PTV headquarters and Parliament on August 31 and September 1, 2014.
PTI and PAT demonstrators had stormed the PTV building and occupied it for around half an hour, before being removed by the Pakistan Army. According to PTV administration, protesters had vandalized valuable transmission equipment at the office and ransacked the central news room and master control room.
Imran Khan had said after the incident that he would quit politics if his involvement in the attack on PTV was proven.
