KARACHI: Pakistan’s boxer Mohammad Waseem has successfully defended his WBC Silver flyweight championship title on Sunday by defeating Philippines’ Giemel Magramo at Millennium Hilton in South Korean city Seoul.

The 29-year old, Quetta-born boxer outplayed his much-experienced opponent in an exciting 12-round bout with a 3-0 unanimous decision, which also made Magramo taste first defeat after 17 consecutive wins.

Waseem, who is also known as Falcon Khan, turned pro in October last year, since then he is undefeated in all five professional boxing bouts and three of them were knock-out victories.

He won WBC Silver flyweight title in July by defeating Jether Olivia.

Waseem trained with Jeff Mayweather, of famous Mayweather boxing family, at TMT in Las Vegas ahead of his title defense fight.

“It wasn’t easy fight for me, but Allhamdolillah I did well and managed to defend the title,” Waseem said after winning the bout.
