KARACHI: With dreams of playing for Pakistan in the future, Lahore Qalandars' ambidextrous bowling discovery Yasir Jan has started training at the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club in England.

Yasir, who was discovered by Lahore Qalandars during the Rising Stars program last year, was sent to MCC by the franchise for further enhancement of his skills.

Sameen Rana, COO of Lahore Qalandars, confirmed to Geo.tv on Tuesday that Yasir has commenced his training at MCC and has impressed the coaches in UK.

“I have been receiving updates and he (Yasir Jan) has been very impressive in UK. I am sure once he returns from UK, he will be able to serve the country,” Rana told Geo.tv.

Sameen also shared videos of Yasir's training at MCC in which he could be seen working with English coaches who looked impressed with his talent and skills.

Yasir – an ambidextrous quick, and perhaps the first such bowler from Pakistan – was spotted by Lahore Qalandars during its talent hunt, the 'Rising Stars' program, last year.

Rana further confirmed that the franchise Lahore Qalandars has two years' agreement with MCC for training and skill development of players.

“This is next step of our player development program providing additional opportunities to exceptional talent like Yasir Jan. For 2018 English season, LQ will have two spots available to send players for training,” he revealed.

Sameen Rana said that the franchise will continue with its players development program this year and is looking for a bigger participation this time.

“This year we are targeting an even bigger number and we feel it is our duty to provide the best opportunities for their development and learning,” he said.

“The contract with Sydney Thunder, contract with MCC and the acquisition of Durban franchise are all in line with this vision. We hope that our efforts will result in providing future stars to Pakistan cricket,” he said.
