British police to continue investigation against MQM founder

LONDON: The British police will continue its investigations against the MQM founder, said Met police chief Cressida Dick while replying to MP Naz Shah. 

The lawmaker questioned the police chief in regards to progress made in the investigation. 

Shah referred to the speech made by the MQM founder in which in he incited violence in Karachi and said there are multiple cases and investigations but "we still seem to be doing nothing". 

"We are carrying on with our investigations and are working closely with CPS," said the police chief and added the investigation involves working closely with the authorities in Pakistan. 

"I can tell you that the investigation continues."

She assured the lawmaker that the police will continue its investigation. 

Shah said that if Britain does not tolerate hater-mongering on its soil, the same rule should be applied to Pakistan. 

"Pakistan needs cooperation from the UK and the UK needs cooperation from Pakistan."

She added that if money laundering is being done in London, then it is illegal and must be prosecuted. 

The British MP said that freedom of speech and politics is the right of all but hate-mongering is not permitted. 

"There is a big difference between free speech and incitement to kill," further said the Pakistan origin MP. 

She said that she would continue question the police and the Home Office regarding the progress of cases involving the MQM founder.
