The long and agonising wait for Game of Thrones fans is over – almost. The epic HBO drama has finally released the premiere date for its eighth and final season which is debuting this April.

Save the date, because winter is coming… on April 14.

The network also released a heart-stopping teaser video called Crypts of Winterfell. In the video, Jon Snow, Sansa Stark and Arya Stark can be seen walking through the crypts under their family home, where they hear messages from the dead Ned and Catelyn Stark as well as Lyanna Stark.

They suddenly sense an icy chill creeping through the crypts, and draw their swords as they turn around.

GoT Season 8 will only be six episodes total, but each episode is touted to be supersized, maybe even as long as an entire feature film.

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, as well as David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik, will direct the episodes, and Benioff, Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill will write the scripts.
