Disney released a brand new trailer for its live-action Aladdin during the 2019 Grammys on Sunday night, giving fans the first look at Will Smith as the beloved blue genie.

The minute-long trailer does not give away much but offers glimpses of the cast Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine in their new roles.

Smith makes an appearance towards the end of the trailer as Aladdin rubs his golden magic lamp, blue smoke pours out and Genie comes to life.

Painted blue, Will takes over this beloved character from the late Robin Williams, who became synonymous with Genie and won a Golden Globe Award for the role.

"You really don't know who I am? Genie, wishes, lamp? None of that ringing a bell?" Genie questions Aladdin in the trailer.

However, Smith as theGenie has more than a few people who want him to go back into the bottle.

This is not the first time Smith has faced criticism for taking on the iconic character from the 1992 hit animated film. When Entertainment Weekly published a cover with a first look of the actor as Genie, some fans were upset that he wasn't blue.

Smith responded on Instagram that he would indeed be blue in the final film, "I'm gonna be BLUE! This is how the Genie is in Human/Disguise Form. My character will be CGI most of the movie."

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the remake has been shot in London and on location in Jordan. The film also stars Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Frank Welker will return to voice Abu, Jafar will be played by Marwen Kenzari.

Disney's Aladdin remake will hit theaters on May 24, 2019.
