ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari has advised Prime Minister Imran Khan to resign. The former president had an informal conversation with journalists outside the accountability court here on Friday.
“Imran Khan had said he would commit suicide instead of going to the IMF. My advice to him is to resign and go home,” said the former president.
According to Zardari, the approval of Federal Budget 2019-20 would be dependent on Akhtar Mengal and where he stood.
The accountability court resumed hearing of the fake accounts case against the former president and his sister Faryal Talpur.
On Monday, the accountability watchdog arrested Zardari in the fake bank accounts case from the federal capital, after a bench of the Islamabad High Court rejected a plea filed by Zardari and Talpur seeking an extension in their interim bail in the fake bank accounts case.
The case pertains to transactions worth hundreds of millions of rupees to the two leaders' private companies, allegedly, through fake bank accounts.
