Oscar nominations 2022: The Power of the Dog leads nominees for the 94th annual Academy Awards

The nominations for the 94th annual Academy Awards have been announced.

'The Power of the Dog' leads nominees for the 94th annual Academy Awards with 12 nominations. Other top-nominated films were 'Belfast,' 'Dune,' 'King Richard' and 'West Side Story.'

Following on from the impressive Bafta nominations, which were announced last week, all eyes were on the Academy to deliver the goods.

Jane Campion´s "The Power of the Dog" scored the most Oscar nominations with 12, taking the lead in Hollywood´s awards race.

Sprawling sci-fi epic "Dune" was second with 10 nominations for the Academy Awards, which will take place on March 27 in Hollywood.

"Belfast" -- Kenneth Branagh´s black-and-white, semi-autobiographical recounting of 1960s violence in Northern Ireland -- and Steven Spielberg´s reimagined "West Side Story" were tied for third place at seven nominations.

Nominees were unveiled in all 23 categories, from best picture to best director, along with the acting categories and crafts categories including best sound, best production design, best makeup and hairstyling, and best visual effects. Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the announcement.
