Melanie Lynskey reveals 'Yellowjackets' season 3 spoilers

Melanie Lynskey revealed some insights into the upcoming season 3 of Yellowjackets, the survivalist drama that wrapped its season 2 in 2023.

The 46-year-old actress unveiled to People Magazine in an interview that the Yellowjackets’ writers have disclosed some of the spoilers of season 3 with her.

“I had a talk with the writers and they went over the season with me and they gave me a couple of huge spoilers,” Lynskey said. “I don't know what they're thinking. I'm sure they're just sitting there going, ‘Why did we tell Melanie anything?’ But I'm not going to say them. I'm going to keep it to myself. But gosh, it sounds so exciting!”

It is pertinent to mention, the season two final episode ended with an open ending in which the teenagers were looked inside an ablaze cabin set, which was set on fire presumably by Ben (Steven Krueger). They managed to escape but now they need a new place to live in the woods.

“Last season there was such a quick turnaround and it felt the conversation with [the writers] about the season happened partway through the season,” she added. “So now to be talking before the season's even begun and they have everything mapped out, it's just super exciting.”

Moreover, Lynskey also mentioned that she misses her costars including Warren Cole and Christina Ricci, “I just miss everyone,” Lynskey said. “I'm like, ‘Oh, I get to have scenes with Warren! I get to have scenes with Christina!’”

For those unversed, Yellowjackets is based on a story of the survivors across two timelines, attempting to stay alive in the wilderness for 19 months and exploring their lives in the present.

Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson are the creators of the series, starring Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell as the adult members of the team, with Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sammi Hanratty, Liv Hewson, and Courtney Eaton playing the teen versions.

As per the Deadline reports, the third season of Yellowjackets will not be premiering until 2025, Yellowjackets’ executive producers Ashley Lyle, Jonathan Lisco, and Bart Nickerson told the outlet in January during the Emmy Awards.
