Prince Edward visited troops currently deployed to Estonia and attended a training exercise in Harju County as the Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Dragoon Guards, said a statement issued by the royal family.

The Duke of Edinburgh also visited Tapa Camp, an army base in Laane-Viru County.

According to the statement, the cold weather operator course takes place every year in Estonia and involves soldiers spending two nights in a forest, learning how to build camps, make fires and find food and water.

While diligently performing his royal duties, Edward has been a pillar of strength to his cancer-stricken brother whose two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry have been at loggerheads.

According to the British media, King Charles reposes full confidence in his younger brother and his wife Sophie.

It's also expected that when the time comes, Edward and Sophie's son James, known as a taciturn royal, would be bestowed upon special honors by William in the future.

Prince Edward represented the monarch at the funeral of former US president  Jimmy Carter in Washington, DC earlier this month.

US media published several article on Edward's presence at the funeral at a time when Donald Trump is about to resume office.

"Prince Edward represented the royal family at Jimmy Carter's funeral. What does that mean for Trump?," read the headline of an article published in Vanity Fair.

It added, "Edward's presence signals both his growing importance in his own family, as well as the monarchy's importance to British diplomacy at a potentially rocky moment."

King Charles sent Edward's wife Duchess Sophie to represent him at the state funeral of former Italian president Giorgio Napolitano in September 2023.

During the same month, the Duke of Edinburgh undertook a visit to Turkey to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Some media reports suggested that it was the king and the British government's decision to send Edward on the diplomatic mission.

It was happening when neither King nor Kate Middleton were diagnosed with caner.

Edward's foreign visits were also used to criticise Prince William, who is heir to the throne.
