Firerose just broke silence over her ex-husband Billy Ray Cyrus’s inauguration performance controversy.

In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE magazine, the 36-year-old singer addressed Billy’s performance at Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony and said, "What’s being seen in public now reflects much of what I experienced in private during our relationship."

She continued, "It’s very sad to see those same struggles continue for him, but I’m glad the truth is coming to light — for his potential good because healing is only possible when you confront the truth and accept there’s a problem.”

"For me, I remain focused on my faith, my music, my healing and using my story to encourage others to find strength and hope,” the Australian artist added.

This comes after Firerose and the Old Town Road hitmaker finalized their divorce in August 2024, after a rather short-lived marriage that lasted only seven months.

Before tying the knot, she and Billy spent four years dating each other but during their divorce, both of them stated that abuse had bruised and strained their relationship.

Previously, Firerose told Stellar magazine in October 2024 that she wished to go back in time to tell her younger self to “run” when she first met Billy Ray Cyrus on the set of Hannah Montana.

“When I think about what I just went through, I would have told my 22-year-old self to run in the opposite direction and never look back,” she had told the outlet.
