Janelle Brown has finally opened up about her son Garrison’s final hour before he passed away by committing suicide.

For the unversed, the 55-year-old ex-wife of Kody Brown lost her 25-year-old son on March 5, 2024.

Now on the latest episode of TLC show Sister Wives, Janelle, who moved to North Carolina to stay close to her eldest daughter, Madison Brush, son-in-law, Caleb Brush, and their kids, said, "I was traveling back to Flagstaff.”

The mother of six revealed that at that time, she was in contact with Garrison and they were "texting all day long. And this was not unusual because he and I talked probably three times a day."

She added, "I knew he was struggling" with anxiety and depression "and I always just picked up the phone and I always make it a point to just talk to him."

However, the conversation did not include anything extraordinary; "it was just, I think he needed the connection."

Janelle admitted that she was not alarmed when Garrison stopped replying to her texts, but since he started drinking, “he would go through periods where he was really good and then he just would have a binge just as part of the cycle.”

She went to bed at around 8:30 pm and called her other two children, Hunter Brown and Logan Brown, "because we've tag-teamed. I said, 'Will you guys see if Garrison will respond to you?' And so they were on it. They said, 'Mom, we're on it. We'll just kind of check on him and make sure he's OK.’”

Janelle fell asleep peacefully and never imagined receiving a call, which she did.

"Gabriel had found him. He's like, 'Mom, he's gone.' I mean, 'What do you mean?' He said, 'He's dead. He killed himself,’” she said of Garrison.

"I don't remember the next few minutes but I got in the car and drove,” the devastated mother added.

Moving forward, Janelle explained Garrison’s mental health condition to her younger sister Carrie by saying, "He had anxiety and depression and then he started drinking as a way to sort of soothe that,” which "became the animal he couldn't get a hold of."

"We knew he was in a bad place. We were doing everything we could for him, but he just, he just couldn't get on top of it."

"Kody and I decided that we would cremate him. I knew that that's what he wanted, so we did that. And that way it gives us the opportunity to have the funeral at a better time of year,” Janelle noted.
