Angela Bassett joined in on the action in Mission: Impossible, but only figuratively.
Bassett, 66, spoke about her role in the upcoming Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, "It’s thrilling, the stuff that they do," she remarked of the stunts, adding, "It's just mind-blowing."
However, when asked if she wanted to do any stunts herself, she said, "Absolutely not."
"I definitely don’t have FOMO [the fear of missing out]," she said, adding, "my only stunt is walking."
Bassett reprised her role as Erika Sloane, who was CIA head in Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Now, the character has moved up to being the President of the United States.
She called her role as part of an "a part of an orchestra."
Describing her character's dynamic with Tom Cruise's superspy Ethan Hunt, she said Sloane explores 'levels of 'I don’t want you doing that — do I really not want you doing that?' 'Can we work together as you’re doing that, because you’re going to do it anyway?’"
Bassett also praised Cruise’s passion for filmmaking, saying that he’s “nothing but pure enthusiasm — he just wants to pull the best out of everyone.”
Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, stars costarring Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny and more alongside Tom Cruise and Angela Bassett. The film will bow in theaters May on 23.
