Queen Camilla will be sworn in as a member of the King's Privy Council for Canada during the royal couple's upcoming visit to the counrty.
Quoting senior government officials, cbc.ca reported that the swearing-in allows the Queen to give formal advice to King Charles in his role as the King of Canada, and once sworn in, she maintains membership for life.
King Charles will attend Canada's state opening of parliament in Ottawa, in a clear show of support for the former British colony of which he is still head of state.
According to Buckingham Palace, Charles, along with his wife Queen Camilla, will visit Canada from May 26 to May 27.
The monarch's attendance comes after his recent acknowledgment that he is also the king of Canada, a country that U.S. President Donald Trump has made clear he has designs on.
The visit to Canada would be Charles' second overseas trip this year, after his visit to Italy where he held a private meeting with Pope Francis before the pontiff's demise.
When King Charles III and Queen Camilla visit Canada later this month for the monarch's reading of the speech from the throne, it will kick off two days of pomp and ceremony across the capital.
The King's visit will mark the third time a British and Canadian monarch has read the speech from the throne in Canada, with Queen Elizabeth ll having delivered the speech in 1957 and 1977.
