Kate Hudson and Kathryn Hahn played best friends in the 2003 rom-com How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and became real best friends.

Now, Kate and Kathryn have reunited for Variety’s Actors on Actors series and are reminiscing about the auditions and the time they had while filming.

“It was my first movie,” Hahn told Hudson. “To have you as the lead of it was so grounding. I don’t know what I imagined it would be like, but I certainly didn’t imagine it to feel just so freaking fun and loose and supported.”

Discussing Hahn’s audition, Hudson said, “Do you remember your audition as well as I remember it? Because it was one of the great moments of all time. It was me and [producer] Lynda Obst, and we were looking for my besties, and you came in, like, all flustered.”

“I couldn’t find a parking spot. I was so sweaty. I couldn’t believe I was meeting you. I ran in, in a ruckus, and you were so welcoming,” replied the Agatha All Along star.

Hudson continued, “You came in and you were just like, ‘Oh my God. I’m so sorry. I couldn’t find the parking.’ You had this bag — I don’t even know what was in it; it was like you were traveling — and I immediately was like, ‘I love this woman so much.’ I forget what scene we were doing.”

She added, “But then you’re in the middle of the scene, and your Nokia flip phone was like, bdltltlt, bdltltlt. She’s like, ‘Oh my God, hold on — I’ve got to go get the phone.’ You get the phone and you’re like, ‘I’m in the middle of an audition.’ I remember looking at Lynda like, ‘This is my best girlfriend in life.’”

Echoing Hudson, Hahn said, “Forever. That was my friend Patrick who called, and I still give him crap about it. He’s very proud to have been a part of that audition in some small way.”

Hahn and Hudson are both enjoying success in their careers these days. Hudson is currently leading the sports comedy Running Point, and Hahn is fresh off of her successful run in the Marvel universe with her supporting role in WandaVision and then her lead role in Agatha All Along.
