Harrison Query recently wrote the short story Code Black. Now, Amazon MGM Studios has bought the rights to make a political thriller film based on it.
According to Deadline, the streamer paid a high price for it, making the deal the largest ever in the genre.
It is said to be in a seven-figure deal and the hefty price tag comes from a bidding war between Hollywood studios.
Jake Gyllenhaal is tapped to lead the thriller vis his company, Nine Stories. On the other hand, Amazon MGM will have a first-look deal.
The report noted the Marvel star’s involvement came after he delivered several hit projects, including Presumed Innocent, and the remake of The Road House.
Harrison Query meanwhile will pen the screenplay while talks have been ongoing to add Lynn Harris, Matt Reeves, and Scott Glassgold as producers.
The logline of Code Black reads, "The country’s top heart surgeon is flown to D.C. to perform a high-stakes operation, finding himself led into a trap where his guile and genius become the only way to stop a plot that threatens both his family and the nation."
