Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, is expected to be given a role that Prince William finds "uncomfortable", report GB News citing sources.
The report said that the 44-old could secure a more prominent position within the Firm to handle equestrian responsibilities that Prince William finds "uncomfortable".
She is understood to be considered for royal racing duties during William's future reign.
The sources said that the future king lacks the passion for horse racing unlike Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles.
"I never get the feeling the whole top hat and racing is really his thing, and he's said as much." the publication quoted a racing source familiar with the Royal Family as having told the Times.
"He's never really seemed comfortable doing it," said the source.
Quoting sources privy to the Prince of Wales, the news outlet reported, "He understands how important Ascot is, not just to the racing community but to UK plc."
The report said that William is expected to reduce his involvement with both Royal Ascot and the royal stud at Sandringham in Norfolk compared to current and previous monarchs.
This puts Zara in an ideal position to step into the equestrian role, using her Olympic experience and lifelong connection to the sport.
The publication reported that the arrangement would allow William to focus on areas where he feels more comfortable whilst ensuring the Crown's historic relationship with horse racing continues through a trusted family member.
