Johnny Depp has just now reflected on his 2022 trial against Amber Heard.
In 2019, both sued each other for defamation, related to allegations of domestic abuse, both during and after their marriage, from 2015 to 2017.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor candidly discussed the purpose of the trial too.
"Look, none of this was going (to) be easy, but I didn't care," the Hollywoood actor began by saying.
"I thought, 'I'll fight until the bitter (expletive) end.' And if I end up pumping gas? That's all right. I've done that before," he continued.
Revealing the reason behind fighting the legal battle, Depp told the outlet, "Look, it had gone far enough. If I don't try to represent the truth it will be like I've actually committed the acts I am accused of. And my kids will have to live with it. Their kids. Kids that I've met in hospitals.”
Recalling a night before his trial began, he concluded, “So the night before the trial in Virginia I didn't feel nervous. If you don’t have to memorize lines, if you're just speaking the truth? Roll the dice."
In 2022, A Virginia jury awarded Johnny Depp with $ 10 million in compensatory damages and $ 5 million in punitive damages from Amber Heard. While on the other hand, Heard was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages.
