Rihanna's father cause of death comes to light a month later

Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty’s cause of death has been revealed!

The Diamonds hitmaker’s father passed away due to serious illnesses and cancer on May 30, 2025 at the age of 70, shortly after he was admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles.

As per the death certificate that TMZ obtained, Ronald’s cause of death was stated as acute respiratory failure, pancreatic cancer and aspiration pneumonia - a bacterial lung infection - as well as two kidney conditions: acute renal failure and acute tubular necrosis.

Along with Rihanna, he is survived by the singer's mother, Monica Braithwaite, his other daughters Kandi, 54, and Samantha Fenty, 44, and 35-year-old son Rorrey Fenty.

Ronald and Monica split in 2002 but raised their children in Bridgetown, Barbados, however, the Umbrella hitmaker had a rocky relationship with her dad while growing up.

After she claimed that Ronald spoke to the press about her being assaulted by then-boyfriend, Chris Brown, in 2009, in the year that followed, Rihanna acknowledged she had "repaired" her relationship with her dad.

She told Oprah Winfrey: "He taught me everything, and as awful as he was to my mom, at times, it didn’t compare to how great he was as a father.

"And I had to come to terms with that, and I was able to close that gap with him,” Rihanna concluded at that time.
