Carole Bayer Sager, a friend of the late Diane Keaton, visited her two or three weeks before her death.
Her appearance, she says in an interview with People, was shocking, as the Grammy winner describes, “I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin. She had lost so much weight."
Apart from being friends, Carole is the writer on Diane's track First Christmas, which she also co-wrote with her.
The Oscar-winning songwriter also shares that her meetups with the late actress were few this year because, due to wildfires in California, the latter mostly spent time in Palm Springs.
"She had to go to Palm Springs because her house had been damaged inside, and they had to clean everything," she adds.
"She was down there for a while, and when she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she'd lost."
Beside this, Carole says Diane "was a magic light for everyone. I just loved her. She was so special, she just lit up a room with her energy."
"She was happy and upbeat and taking photographs of everything she saw. She was completely creative; she never stopped creating," she notes.
Meanwhile, Diane was announced to have passed away on October 11. She was 79.
