Marvel fans have been given their first proper look at Spider-Noir, with Prime Video unveiling the debut trailer for the upcoming live-action series starring Nicolas Cage as the gritty, shadow-dwelling Spider-Man variant.

The series is scheduled to premiere on May 27.

The teaser introduces Cage as Ben Reilly, a weary private detective who also happens to be Spider-Noir, a version of the web-slinger operating in a darker, more grounded world.

Set against the backdrop of 1930s New York, the story follows an ageing investigator who is pushed to confront the superhero identity he once left behind, when he was the city’s only masked protector.

While Cage previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in the animated hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the new series is not connected to Sony’s animated films.

Instead, the show draws its inspiration directly from the Spider-Man Noir comic books, leaning fully into classic noir themes.

That influence is reflected in the visual style, with the series set to be released in both black-and-white and colour versions.

The trailer offers a glimpse of what viewers can expect, showing Cage swinging between buildings, leaping from moving cars, trading punches with criminals in a bar and later winding down with a stiff drink.

The tone blends hard-boiled detective drama with comic-book action, positioning the show as a more grounded take on the Spider-Man mythos.

Cage is joined by a strong supporting cast including Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez and Jack Huston.

The series also features a wide range of guest stars, such as Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson and Kai Caster.

Spider-Noir is produced by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Prime Video.

The project was developed alongside Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse filmmakers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, who also executive produce.

The series will roll out globally on Prime Video, marking a major expansion of Marvel’s darker, genre-driven storytelling on the small screen.
