Olivia Rodrigo shared the thought process behind her making the surprise cameo during Addison Rae's Coachella performance and performing her latest single Drop Dead live for the first time.
The 23-year-old pop superstar revealed that it was actually her idea to deliver her debut performance with Rae, and she reached out to her.
The drivers license hitmaker noted, “I think… we're friends, you know? We text all the time. And then I messaged her like: ‘maybe I could show up at Coachella, I feel like this song is so fun, so free and totally your vibe’.”
The text message resulted in a performance which broke the internet as the two performed Rae's song Headphones On, and then Rodrigo's recent release.
The comments sparked a mixed reaction from fans as some appreciated Rodrigo for inviting herself, while others criticised her for taking over Rae's performance.
"She came to outsing Addison and she delivered," one wrote on X, while another added, "well it’s not addison’s vibe at all but it was cute," and "sistersssssss," chimed in a third.
While one critic penned, "well i dont know if crashing ur friend's debut coachella set is the right move but ok."
