Halle Berry reacts to Maya Boyd replacing her as Storm on 'X-Men'

Halle Berry is officially ready to pass the Storm torch to Maya Boyd.

Speaking to People magazine in an interview published September 21, the Oscar winner shared her excitement over seeing the 23-year-old actress take on the iconic X-Men character.

“I believe she’s going to kill it. You know what I mean?” Berry said of Boyd, who was introduced as the new Storm at D23 last month.

Boyd will portray the weather-controlling mutant in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot, joining Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Christopher Abbott as Professor X. Adam Driver will also star as the villain Mister Sinister.

Berry first played Ororo Munroe, better known as Storm, in the original 2000 X-Men movie. She later reprised the role in X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

However, Berry does not see Boyd’s casting as a replacement for her portrayal of the character.

“Yeah, there’s people playing Storm. No, my Storm was my Storm and I wish her so well,” she said. “I very much look forward to seeing what her version will be. I’m sure she’s going to murder it.”

The new X-Men movie is scheduled for May 5, 2028.
