Meghan's ally swoops in to save the day for Sussexes despite grievances

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had been looking for a reprieve since their move back to the UK which, in the words of the Duke of Sussex, had been “eventful”.

From King Charles’s declaration of them as “private citizens” to the pending police protection verdict, the couple has been facing a number of setbacks. There were rumours of Meghan’s acting return but that didn’t formulate into anything.

However, the only big thing that the Sussexes were relying on to work were the Invictus Games, which was also reportedly facing a “funding crisis”. But a new deal to broadcast the Games by Amazon appears to have helped move things along.

And this deal did not come out of nowhere, but instead it was made possible by Kris Jenner, who has become increasingly close with Meghan.

This all comes after the messy drama caused by the photo mishap which happened during Kris’s 70th birthday party, coinciding with Remembrance Day – a sombre day, especially in the UK. Despite the photo fiasco, it appears all is good between them.

“Kris didn’t just know both sides — she had their trust,” a source told Rob Shuter. “Meghan needed help. Kris had Lauren’s ear, and Lauren had Jeff’s. One conversation led to another, and suddenly Amazon was at the table.”

The Invictus foundation needed approximately £20 million to cover costs, which is how much the deal is worth. While it may be a boost to the event, this is like “pocket change” for Jeff Bezos.

Jeff’s wife, Lauren, understands “the power of backing major cultural events” and if they can fund the Met Gala, Invictus Games is not far-fetched.

“This is classic Kris Jenner,” a Hollywood source said. “She knows who needs what — and exactly who can deliver it. Meghan needed a powerful new partner, and Kris knew precisely which door to knock on.”

Known as the momager for the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Kris is not known as someone who appreciates public mishaps. The Kardashians had shared photos with the couple from the birthday party but since they were posted on Remembrance Day, they asked for it to be deleted.
