Rob Lowe mercilessly trolled for posing with giant fish

Rob Lowe found himself the target of playful online mockery this week after sharing a photo of himself holding a large tuna while out on a boat off the coast of Southern California over the weekend. 

The 62-year-old actor appeared visibly proud of the catch in the snap, but many social media users quickly cast doubt on whether he'd actually reeled it in himself.

Commenters flooded the post with skeptical jokes, with one writing, "Never seen anyone hold a fish like that," while another questioned whether Lowe's son, Matt, deserved the real credit, "@MattLowe, did u catch it and he is just posing with it or did he actually catch it."

Others took aim at Lowe's fishing know-how more broadly, with one commenter joking, "Do you even know how to clean that," and another suggesting the photo may have simply been staged for engagement.

The lighthearted ribbing continues a long-running dynamic between Lowe and his sons, John Owen and Matthew, whom he shares with wife Sheryl Berkoff, a dynamic playful enough that it previously inspired his Netflix comedy Unstable, which Lowe has said grew directly out of John Owen's habit of trolling him in the comments of his own Instagram posts.
