LIVE: Thousands gather in Karachi, to hear Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD,KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continues its protest sit-in in Islamabad, with micro sit-ins littered across the country. However PTI Chairman, Imran Khan has been unable to deliver on his promises to his followers.

While Imran Khan has been reassuring the crowds that he will not leave without the prime minister’s resignation, political parties stand firmly behind the parliament and the office of the prime minister who has been reassured that he must not resign.

Tonight Imran Khan will address a rally in Karachi, a city he has promised to rid of all ills. Plagued with corruption, law and order problems and political turmoil, Khan is making another promise that wont be easy to deliver. None the less, the cricketer turned politician has enjoyed support in Karachi before and with the crowds pouring in, it seems his support base remains intact.

1635: Imran Khan arrives in Karachi and his convoy has departed for the venue. Imran Khan is expected to first offer fateha at the Quaid's mausoleum before addressing his followers.

1452: Security beefed up at Karachi airport ahead of PTI Chief, Imran Khan’s arrival.

1330: Imran Khan departs from Bani Gala along with party officials for Karachi. He is expected to address his followers in port city at about 1830 according to PTI sources. Sources have confirmed that Imran will be travelling via a special aircraft and is being accompanied by Jehangir Tareen, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and others.

1200: After overnight preparations the stage is set. Teams on the ground have estimated the number of people present at noon to be close to 2000 while the crowd continues to pour in, with every PTI supporter looking forward to hearing their leader, Imran Khan.
