Pakistan v England ODI under investigation by ACSU

LONDON/KARACHI: The International Cricket Council’s anti-corruption and security unit (ASCU) has requested data from betting markets after suspicious gambling patterns during the third one-day international between England and Pakistan raised the alarm, that the match may have been fixed.

British media outlets reported that Paksitan’s batting line up suddenly collapsing in a matter of runs, plus losing three wickets to run-outs would have given those with prior knowledge about a batting collapse the edge needed to make huge sums from the way odds switched in the betting markets.

The investigation comes in light of suspicious betting patterns and certain comments made on social media regarding the way the Pakistani side went down.

However, Pakistan’s coach Waqar Younis denied the reports and was quoted in the British media having said that he is "very clear about the Pakistan team, and there was nothing wrong with the game,"

"Yes, we lost the game - it's unfortunate and these things happen,” he added, "You lose and win games, but I have no doubt in my boys. I'm very satisfied in them."
