KARACHI: Rangers carried out search operation in Manghopir area of the metropolis, detaining several suspects affiliated with banned outfit.

According to the Rangers official, a factory for manufacturing explosive material was also found in the area.

The paramilitary force entered the area with its Anti-Terrorism Squad and lady officials with a helicopter hovering over the slum locality for the aerial surveillance.

On the other hand, the residents of the area protested against the operation and blocked several roads while some protesters pelted stones that injured Geo News' cameraman Rehan and driver Jaffri. They were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

During the operation, almost 100 suspects were rounded up and after the interrogation many of them were allowed to leave for their homes.

The sources told Geo news that more than 50 weapons were also seized during the operation.

On Friday, Rangers, who also enjoyed policing powers, had arrested some suspects from the same area.

Karachi has long been witnessing an unending violence with gory incidents of targeted killings taking place on daily basis.
