ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday sought clarification from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over non arrest of those who removed Asghar Khan, investigation officer probing the Rental Power case, Geo News reported.
An SC bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered the NAB chairman to present a comprehensive report after determining those responsible for removing the officer from the probe.
The bench remarked that the NAB, the premier anti-corruption body in Pakistan, was supposed to end corruption not to protect it.
NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Fauzi Zafar told the bench that DG NAB Rawalpindi, Principal Secretary NAB Brigadier Farooq and DG Operations Shehzad Bhatti had been suspended for removing Asghar Khan from the probe. Besides, the officer had been assigned the task once again.
