KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly session Wednesday resembled a fish market, as members of the treasury and opposition benches exchanged barbs here, Geo News reported.
The ruckus started over the disbursement of development budget to the assembly members and calling two female MPAs from the Muslim League (Functional)‘Benjamin sisters’ which sent the session into a pandemonium due to ensuing rhetoric attacks and counter attacks between the members of the treasury and opposition benches.
Opposition member Arif Mustafa Jatoi MPA, raising the development fund issue, passed some derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah. He complained that the CM promise of giving Rs20 million development fund has not yet been fulfilled, while the financial year was coming to end and remarked that CM should be ashamed of it.
Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmad Khuhro retorted, ‘should he carry Rs20 million to your house’?
Provincial Minister Ayaz Soomro also strongly criticized Arif Jatoi for his remarks and said that ‘it seems he is drunk’.
This sparked a wave of protests as the opposition members including the ML (F) and National People’s Party (NPP) rose from their seats and started shouting down the members of the treasury bench. Jam Madad Ali suggested blood tests of all the members.
Ayaz Somroo on one occasion called the ML (F)’s two women members ‘Benjamin sisters’ and wondered about Nusrat Sehar Abbasi’s state of mind, had she been made the opposition leader.
