KARACHI: Petrol is still being sold at the March 1 hiked price in different areas of the city here on Sunday, in brazen defiance of the latest government notification taking back the March 1 POL price-hikes and reversal to the Feb 28 levels of prices, Geo News reported.
OGRA had withdrawn its March 1 POL price-hikes by issuing a fresh notification according to which the prices of petrol was slashed to Rs103.07/litre from Rs106.60, high speed diesel to Rs109.21 from Rs113.56/litre and kerosene to Rs99.90 from Rs103.69/litre effective March 3 (Sunday).
But profiteers in defiance of the government notification have refused to reverse the POL prices back to February 28 levels by either keeping their petrol pumps closed or selling the petroleum products at the higher prices of March 1 in several cities across the country, while citizens to face the brunt of this imbroglio.
