KARACHI: Unknown gunmen opened fire in Lines Area, Karachi and injured a senior superintendent of police (SSP) of crime branch Friday morning, Geo News reported.
According to sources, SSP Malik Maqsood was on his way to work when unidentified armed culprits in cars and on motorcycle ambushed his vehicle in Lines Area. As a result of firing, SSP Malik Maqsood got injured.
He was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where Additional Police Surgeon Dr Jalil Qadir told that SSP Malik Maqsood has received bullets in his lower abdomen and left hand and has also sustained head injuries.
He was immediately shifted to operation theatre where doctors are making serious attempts to save his life.
The SSP’s gunman Abdul Rauf told reporters that two cars chased his vehicle and shots were fired from a white car.
Police reached the spot and cordoned off the area while the search to find the accused was also initiated.
It may also be mentioned here that two persons lost their lives while four others sustained injuries in other violent incidents in Karachi on Friday.
According to police, a body was found from a house in Defence View phase 2 area. Police suspected that the man was killed for allegedly resisting a robbery attempt.
Another body was found from Old Haji Camp area whose identity could not be ascertained yet.
Four persons were also injured in different firing incidents that occurred in Malir-Saaudabad, Star Gate, MA Jinnah Road and Mai Kolachi areas.
