Lahore: 279 traffic wardens sacked over fake documents
LAHORE: Authorities have sacked 279 traffic wardens who used fake educational documents for their promotions.

Those sacked said that they didn’t do any such thing for which they have been severely punished.

The issue came to surface when authorities formed a committee after some traffic wardens protested against their non-promotion. During scrutiny after the wardens were asked to re-submit their documents 366 educational documents and domiciles were found fake.

Chief Traffic Officer, Captain (retired), Sohail Chaudhry said that 279 out of 1,925 traffic wardens confirmed two years ago have been discharged, as they were found to take recourse to forgery for getting their names included in the seniority list for promotion.

On the other hand, sacked traffic wardens told that a case was registered against 366 wardens, show cause notices were issued two days later and suddenly after a few days, 279 wardens have been dismissed from service. They said that such a wrong decision would only render them and their families to suffer in utter poverty and hunger.
