KARACHI: The residents of metropolis, already hit by relentless violent crimes, are now facing the menace of sexual assaults on young women as another teenager was allegedly raped before she was dumped near a shopping plaza in one of Karachi’s posh neighborhoods, Geo News reported.
The 15-year-old college student, who was unable to carry herself, was found lying on the road next to a mall bustling with shoppers in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase I.
According to police the girl was allegedly drugged, kidnapped, and ravished by the driver of the rickshaw she was traveling in.
“She was forced to drink something after which she lost her consciousness. We do not know for sure how many people were involved in this heinous crime”, they added.
According to eyewitnesses the victim, who was in a semi-unconscious state, was spotted by a family, which handed her over to police, who later had her ambulanced to the hospital.
According to SSP Clifton, Sarfaraz Nawaz, the girl had been shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC).
The Medico Legal Officer (MLO) at JPMC confirmed the girl was raped.
