People’s Lawyers forum demands restoration of Geo transmission across Pakistan

LAHORE: People’s Lawyers Forum adopted unanimous resolution against putting hurdles in the distribution of Daily Jang and non-restoration of Geo News transmission completely, Geo News reported.

The resolution was passed during a ceremony held at Lahore High Court (LHC) Bar in connection with July 5, the day when General Ziaul Haq had imposed martial law in the country in 1977.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Latif Khosa, Senator Kazim Khan, former deputy attorney general Iftikhar Shahid, Khurrum Latif Khosa and others participated in the ceremony.

Addressing the participants, Latif Khosa held General Zia responsible for spate of killings and terrorism in the country.

On the occasion, lawyers forum general secretary Iftikhar Shahid presented the resolution against blockade of Geo News transmission, which was adopted unanimously.

In the resolution, it is stated that non-restoration of Geo News transmission completely and putting hurdles in the distribution of Daily Jang is tantamount to assault on freedom of expression.

The resolution demanded completely restoration of Geo News and removal of hurdles from Jang distribution.
