‘Cable operators to lose license if failed to show all channels’
ISLAMABAD: Information Minister, Senator Pervez Rashid Monday said Geo News abided by the law and now all others, including the cable operators, will have to act according to the law.

Talking to the media persons outside the Parliament House where demonstrators were protesting against the attack and illegal closure of Geo News, Pervez Rashid said he would raise the voice for Geo inside the Parliament.

He said if cable operators were unable to comply with terms of their contracts, their licenses would be canceled. “The cable operators will have to show all the channels or they will lose their licenses,” he warned.

Pervez Rashid said cases will be registered under the sections of Anti-Terrorism Act against those who took law in their own hands. “Pakistan does not have the law of jungle,” he added.

He said Geo News respected the law by accepting the punishment awarded to it by the Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and it also paid the fine.

The Information Minister said those who attacked journalists in Balochistan will be apprehended.
