KARACHI: Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar said on Wednesday that the Sindh government had provided the federal government wrong statistics pertaining to polio.
Sindh Chief Secretary, Sajjad Saleem Hotiana chaired a meeting over polio which was attended by Tarar, PM’s focal person on polio Aisha Raza and others.
During the meeting, representatives of the federal government were critical of the provincial government's handling of the polio crisis.
Tarar was critical of the IPIs performance and stated that the Sindh government was not taking the polio crisis seriously. The state minister also expressed disappointment over the non-attendance of the provincial health minister and secretary in the meeting.
Tarar stressed that the Sindh government was using the IDPs as an excuse over the polio issue.
It was decided in the meeting that anti-polio drives would be conducted across the country from next month and Rangers could be used to provide security to teams.
