ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League- Q has announced its support for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's sit-in on November 2 in Islamabad.

“We are with Imran Khan," said PML-Q Punjab President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi while speaking to the media along with PTI Vice-President Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

"In the times when the Indian prime minister and the Pakistani government appear to be one-page, we believe it has become important for the opposition to unite," said the PML-Q leader.

He said both the parties have agreed on the course of action to be taken for November 2 sit-in.

Speaking on the occasion, Qureshi paid his gratitude to the PML-Q leader for his support.

The meeting follows reports of the government reaching out to the opposition Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in an apparent attempt to garner its support as November draws closer.

According to sources, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and PPP senior leader Khursheed Shah discussed the PTI Islamabad sit-in. Sources said Rafique and Shah spoke on the telephone and the Railways Minister invited the opposition leader to discuss a consensus strategy regarding the sit-in.

Shah, however, has denied that any such telephone conversation took place.

But earlier today, the Opposition leader in the National Assembly said that laying siege to the federal capital would be unconstitutional.

"Protest is everyone’s democratic right, but laying siege and blocking the capital is an unconstitutional move," he said.

Shah added the PTI chief Imran Khan did not know how to do politics, while the prime minister did not know how to run the government.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan has announced that his party will reach Islamabad on November 2 and hold a sit-in until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif does not present himself for accountability over the Panama Papers.
