With the final season of Game of Thrones will hit our television screens in April this year, star Kit Harrington has revealed that the gruelling filming schedule of the final season felt it was "designed to break" the cast.

Speaking to GQ Australia, Harrington, who plays the role of Jon Snow in the television series, said, "Everyone was broken at the end. I don't know if we were crying because we were sad it was ending or if we were crying because it was so tiring. We were sleep deprived."

"I remember everyone walking around towards the end going, 'I've had enough now. I love this, it's been the best thing in my life, I'll miss it one day — but I'm done,'" Harington added.

According to reports, one of the battle scenes involving Harrington in the upcoming season was filmed over multiple months. Entertainment Weekly's James Hibberd revealed that the 55 days were just for outdoor night shoots. "Filming then moved into the studio, where [director Miguel Sapochnik] continued shooting the same battle for weeks after that," he added.

Harrington can next be seen in a two-handed Sam Shepard play called True West.

Consisting of six episodes, the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones premieres this April.
