Reel turns real for captured Indian pilot Abhinandan
Abhinandan's father was consultant for film which shows IAF pilot as Prisoner of War

We may like to believe that there is no such thing as a coincidence, but turns out it is.
On Wednesday, when Pakistan Air Force shot down Indian Air Force plane and captured Wing Commander Abhinandan, little did anyone know that he is living the life his father had already envisaged.
Abhinandan’s father Air Marshal S Varthaman was a consultant for a Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai, in which a IAF pilot becomes a Prisoner of War in Pakistan.
The film, produced in 2017, shows actor Karthi as IAF pilot and Aditi Rao Hydari as his love interest.
In the movie, the IAF pilot’s plane crashed in Pakistan and he is captured as a POW. The captured Indian pilot then reminisces about his past days while in Pakistani captivity.
The irony is that even Abhinandan’s father must not have foreseen the movie playing out right before his eyes in real life as his son becomes a Pakistani POW.
