ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Tuesday that the arrests of key opposition figures show that the Almighty Allah has finally been merciful on Pakistan, sources informed Geo News.

The premier while heading Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's parliamentary party meeting said that the recent arrests vindicate party's stance. Meanwhile, the prime minister directed the concerned authorities to issue developmental funds to the legislators during the meeting.

Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz and former president Asif Ali Zardari were arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in last two days after the courts rejected their requests for interim bails in the Ramzan Sugar Mills and money laundering cases respectively.

An accountability court granted the NAB, 10-day physical remand of former president Asif Ali Zardari. Meanwhile, a two-member bench comprising Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Shahid Waheed Khan heard petitions of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz.

During the hearing, NAB’s Additional Prosecutor General Jahanzeb Bharwana told the court that Hamza’s assets were not according to his income and that the PML-N leader and his family are involved in money laundering. The court after hearing NAB’s arguments rejected Hamza's plea for an extension for his interim bail.

Hamza, along with his father Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif were indicted in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case on April 9.
