QUETTA: The judicial tribunal tasked with probing the Kharotabad incident has held former CCPO Quetta Daud Janjua, FC Colonel Faisal Shahzad, the concerned SHO and ASI responsible for the killing of five foreigners, Geo News reported. The tribunal has recommended that action be taken against them.
According to the report compiled by the tribunal which was headed by Balochistan High Court Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, evidence indicated that the five foreigners were terrorists but at the time of the incident their intention was not to target the police or FC.
According to sources, the report also states that the police and FC did not handle the situation correctly and the foreigners could have been captured alive. All five were killed due to firing and the police and FC did not use their power correctly.
No weapons or suicide jackets were recovered from the foreigners. The report further said that the foreigners did not enter the country legally and there were no visas on their passports.
On May 17, 2011 five foreigners including three women were killed as a result of firing by FC and police officials in Kharotabad. The Balochistan government had ordered the formation of a tribunal to probe the killings.
