Twelfth International Urdu Conference kicks off in Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday said that politicians should also learn from writers and intellectuals, while addressing the inaugural session of the 12th International Urdu Conference in the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi.

Murad said that the participants of the Urdu Conference were not only  guests of the Arts Council but also of the country.

He said that Pakistan was a country of different cultures and there was a need to promote cultural activities in every province.

ACP President Muhammad Ahmed Shah on the occasion said that he was thankful to the writers and poets who had come from around the world to attend the conference.

He said that the conference was a galaxy where the shining stars of literature were included.

The Urdu Conference had now changed to a national cultural conference and for the first time sessions of other languages were also to be held in the conference.

Ahmed Shah said writers, poets and intellectuals of different languages will have an opportunity to interact with each through this conference.

Various political and social figures attended the inaugural session.

The 12th International Urdu Conference 2019 organised by the Arts Council of Pakistan from December 5-8, is going on in Karachi Arts Council.

Different sessions are being held on various topics, for interaction and discussions.

The conference gives the people of Karachi an opportunity to be a part of amazing activities and events that are designed to celebrate our national language, Ahmed Shah added.

The conference will feature over 150 delegates from 20 countries, along with 32 sessions on diverse forms of art such as film and TV.

Music and dance performances, book fairs, dasatangoi and mushairas as well as a photography exhibition that will look back on the 11 years of the conference.
