Judging from the first-day collection, Dunki has failed to create the magic that Shah Rukh Khan's previous hits, Pathaan and Jawan, do this year.

Helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, the heartfelt immigration flick has earned only ₹30 crore in India on its debut day, according to the Hindustan Times.

In contrast, Pathaan netted ₹57 crore, and Jawan minted ₹89.5 crore on the film's debut day. Therefore, Dunki was the lowest first-day opening for Khan this year.

Apart from the audience's reactions, critics also weighed in on the movie. Their reviews ranged from mixed to positive.

Writing for the Hindustan Times, Monika Rawal Kukreja opined, "SRK is the star attraction in Dunki, and the film presents him in an avatar that we have seen earlier as well, in fact, multiple times over.

On Rediff, Sukanya Verma reviewed, "Dunki is high on ambition, but its flimsy premise renders this nearly three hours long journey into farfetched adventures hard to believe, harder to buy into."

For The Hindu, Anuj Kumar called Dunki "not the best of Hirani but has just about enough to make you chuckle and churn."

Shubhra Gupta wrote in The Indian Express that Dunki is a "crashing bore" and called it Hirani's weakest film.
