Whoopi Goldberg dropped an incremental update on her beloved comedy Sister Act threequel.

Speaking to People magazine, The Color Purple actor shared a significant update on the highly anticipated movie.

When asked about the production timeline of Sister Act 3 she shared, “It’s still on the way! It’s percolating”.

However, given the passage of time since the last sequel was released, the 68-year-old actor assured her fans that the third instalment is very much alive as she quipped, “They have not said, ‘We’re over you ad this movie’”, referring to the studio executives.

Offering fans a glimpse into the production timeline of the film, the mother of one noted, “We’re still in the process of writing the script”, before admitting that she is involved in the process but acknowledged the need for collaborations.

“It’s hard to do everything. And I like to think that I can, but I’ve come to the understanding that I can’t do as much stuff simultaneously, as I’d like to”, she added.

For those unversed, the beloved classic Sister Act was released in 1992, which garnered massive success with two Golden Globe nominations, was followed by its sequel Back in the Habit, in 1993 grossing $57,319,029 worldwide as Golberg’s portrayal of a lounge singer turned nun captured audience’s heart.

Then, almost 3 decades after the original film’s release, its third instalment was confirmed in December 2020 sparking excitement among fans to see the Academy Award recipient reprise her iconic role.
